Syrup 7.0

Well after getting dumped on with over a foot of snow and a day of cold in the teens, we have now gone to the other weather extreme hitting 60.2 degrees here today.

The snow pack is starting to melt, and the sap is flowing. Collected 8.5 gallons between last Sunday and Monday. Tuesday was a dud. Today I had another 7.5 gallons in the jugs. Four jugs were overflowing and I lost one other one due to weight. I collected at 8pm tonight and the sap was running hard. So hard that I may need to empty a few jugs in the morning.

I currently have 12.5 gallons of sap on hand so the night shift has begun boiling….
